Day 1 of our 2014 – Entry #1

Oh life has funny ways of twisting and turning down paths, you cannot see the reason until you are onto the next. There are many paths in our lives that are now glowing from past decisions we have made, places we have landed, jobs we have chosen, friends we have surrounded ourselves with and love that we have built. It is in these moments that we are so grateful because it is there where we have found our strength and community that we have today to take on this colossal challenge. Our family and friends are our backbone that have provided us with unbreakable structure. Olive Diamond is unbreakable!

Our new year began after wonderful holidays filled with family and friends. A ski trip with our core, Olive,Quinn, momma, and daddy. In the mountains we stayed with dear friends and skied 3 days!!! All four of us on the mountain in boots, skis and lifts for over 3 hrs a day. Quinn was going with the flow and olive was just getting consumed with the “ski bug”.Oh how stoked her momma and dada were!

After our ski trip we had a few nice quiet days before school started back up. Olive was so excited to get back to school and see her friends !!! Monday night we picked her up and her teacher explained that Olive just was her normal spunky self and that she complained of shortness of breath towards the end of the day.  We watched her close that night and she seemed a little tired but energy was normal appetite good, able to romp around with Quinny. The next day we walked her to school, told her teacher to watch her and if she seemed short of breath call us and we will bring her to the doctors… Flu season, right? By 10am we got a call, Adam scooped her up and the doctor found a murmur which lead to the X-ray that would officially start our day one of 2014. The Year Olive kicked cancer.
