Best wishes you courageous , strong, beautiful girl. I am publishing a book for a brave young boy who has NEUROBLASTOMA. I would love to send you a copy! My heart and prayers are with you and your family. I love ladybugs too and am currently working on a ladybug story for another child who has Astrocytoma. If there is anything I can do to help please contact me. You are Brave, You are Strong, I Believe it! Much love,Lynn
Ollie – I just want to say that I am so incredibly thankful that you are as brave as you are. I know you were scared in that hospital – and got picked and prodded so many times. But, you did it lady. You will forever walk through this life in heels….and we will all be by your side cheering you on.
We love you to the moon and back!
Auntie Lisa
Ollie,
Can you believe that until I was age 25 I was allergic to “cotton candy”? In Australia, we call cotton candy “fairy floss”. isn’t that cute?
My mummy had always told me that I had a fairy floss allergy, and it meant I sadly couldn’t eat fairy floss.
Well, when I was 25 years old, and at MY first Giants game, i announced to T Bone that I couldn’t eat cotton candy due to my allergy. T Bone laughed….so I tried some..and we discovered that not only was my “allergy” a cheeky myth from my mum….but also that I REALLY like cotton candy 🙂
Dear Olive,
Baby Fern is sending you lots of NYC love. At least I think that’s what she’s saying… To me it sounds like babbling, drooling and farting. We could use a kid translator right now–feel like volunteering?
Alex and Ben

Do you remember that the Kookaburra’s only laugh when it’s about to rain?
Do you remember the Kookaburra song? My mum sings it to me all the time. It goes like this:

Here’s an invitation to come watch us get promoted next week. We’ll sing a song loud and proud for you! We hope you get a chance to visit Disneyland and Las Vegas this summer because some of us think it’s the best place in the whole world! What are your summer plans?
We hope you can come back to school next year. Hopefully you feel better and recover quickly.
With Our Love,
Rm. 213 (Ms. Gross’ class)
Hi Ollie, your yoga pose is perfect!! You need to teach me a couple poses when I see you next. It takes a lot of patience and practice to make the poses as beautful and affective as you are doing them.

Snoopy, Garfield, Olive (Oil) and those birds from Rio are bald in support of you and people just like you. Which one is your favorite?
It was so awesome hanging with you this weekend. Despite being cooped up in a hospital room, you’re still your bright, shining, energetic, sassy self, now with some sassy shoes. Let us know when you want some more lessons on rainbow looms. Tanner figured out how to make them with beads. (Maybe he’ll even make you another white one).
Gigantic hugs!

Hi Olive, You might not remember me but I am Michael and Lucas’ dad. I am writing to you to tell you how much all of us admire you here back in Boston. You are a superhero to all of us and we talk about you very often! There are even people here, all the way across the country, that you’ve never met but know your story and are rooting and praying for you to feel better everyday!
I started this message out identifying myself as Michael and Lucas’ dad. That’s something I’m pretty proud to say. I am also very proud and lucky to indentify myself as a friend of THE one and only Olive Diamond! Please keep up all of your amazing work, I know you will, and we all look forward to hearing about more great days like this past weekend!
Hi Dear Olive,
Am so glad to hear you had a nice weekend with your family. As every Wednesday I was helping in class today and you came to my mind. Your friends will dance in the auditorium tomorrow I will bring my little camera to make a video and send it to you I am sure you will have fun watching it.
We miss you.
Daniela and Isabella
Hi Ollie- I just watched the Roar video of your classmates, and you are the luckiest gal. They are awesome!
Tanner, Jason and I went mini golfing in San Rafael tonight, and it was a blast. He got 59, Jason got 60, and I got 63. Tanner beat both of us. We all thought it would be so much fun to do the next time you come to Marin. You can even get a Slushie when you’re done. The blue one makes your teeth turn blue.
Have a great week, and we love you!
Steph, Jason and Tanner
LOOK what makes me think of you! Hoping someone close by to you could help you make these for you! Yum! Ladybugs for someone who’s as ‘cute as a bug in a rug’!
Hi Olive!
It was so nice to see you on FaceTime the other day at school I loved the camera you showed to everyone. Isabella keeps asking about you I was hoping if we can get to see you sometime soon.
I miss you when I help in class. I am glad to hear Mrs Cuper is teaching you so much cool stuff seems like you are reading pretty good already I am so excited for you…is there any book you would like me to get you?
Tonight before bed time Isabella asked to pray for you Olive it was very sweet.
Much Love
Daniela and Isabella
Olive, we just watched the video created by your friends and teachers at school. Wow!! You are really lucky to have such a wonderful group of classmates and teachers. The video is AMAZING! We can hear you roar all the way in Philadelphia. Happy Spring.
Love,
Aunt Janice and Uncle Steve
Hi Olive.
Lots of big and little people at FS Key miss you, and we think of you whenever we hear Katy Perry sing Roar. We thought it would be fun to make a video for you, so you always know your friends are proud of you and are by your side.
I called Miss Iliza, from your Theatre Arts class. She knows just how to get lots of little kids to sing all together. She offered to come to FS Key and sing with your friends! Miss Iliza brought Miss Olga, who is a great pianist. Mrs Cuper and 105 practiced, and practiced, and practiced singing ROAR. On the day of the performance, all of your friends dressed up like ladybugs in red and black and got up on the stage in the Auditorium. A group of (angels) film students at San Francisco State University brought their video cameras and filmed everything. And just like that, we had a real rock show!
Here it is, thanks to lots of people who care about you. We hope you SING every time you see it.

I am speechless and Olive has a smile from ear to ear.
We have watched it over and over. Simply amazing!
Cannot believe the level of talent that went into this production!!
Thank you everyone! Olive feels like one special lady every time she watches
it.
I just saw a lady bug in my house here (VT) and it made me think of you! That new pixie dust hair ‘do’ put a hop and a skip in my toes and seeing you and Mummy with those great big WONDERFUL SMILES has made my day! Keep those blood count numbers up and you’ll have ALL the fairies everywhere skipping, hopping and jumping for OLIVE JOY!!! YOU ARE THE BEST!!!! xoxoxo
Hi Ollie!
What is your favorite TV show? Mine is Alias. It’s no longer on TV so I’m sure you haven’t heard of it, but it’s really, really (like, super really) good.
The main character is Sydney Bristow. She is a super secret CIA agent, saving the world from evil doings – all while pretending to be a regular girl at school. You’d never know she was such a tough cookie just by looking at her. Most of the time, she looks just like us! But, in every episode, she has to shed her girl-next-door routine and kick into high gear to save the day!
One of my favorite episodes is where she had to wear a bright red wig and pretend to be a punk rocker to get the information she needed from the bad guys. I think she looks AWESOME. Such a badass. So cool. She plays by her own rules and doesn’t take no for an answer!
Sounds like another tough cookie I know…(you!)
Yeah Olive!!!! You did a GREAT JOB bringing up your blood count, so proud of you girl, go get em’. Love, love, love you. Candi Gram xoxo
Wahooo! Blood counts tripled! I’m pretty sure I was holding my breath through that last post and then let out a super victory yelp at the end. Go Olive!!
I’m so happy to hear that your counts tripled!! Got get ’em Ollie! ROAR!
Hi Olive!
We just wanted to check in and say hi, we love you and tell you that you are awesome. I hope you had a good weekend and that you are feeling okay. Keep being the strongest and bravest little girl we know. Lucas wanted to send a little wave your way. XO
Hey Ollie – Guess where I played my Tball game yesterday (before hanging with you)? Olive School. Go A’s! Go Olive!
Hi Ollie!
I just LOVE hearing those numbers are good! Keep being you. We love you so so much.
And keep doing your yoga! Hopefully we can do some when I come again. I’ve been doing some research about what poses would be most fun (and helpful) for you. I’ve also been researching what nail colors are in! Maybe a sparkly green for St. Patrick’s day? And what about pretty pastels – maybe a different color for each nail – for Easter.
Love you guys!!!! Keep celebrating the wins.
Lisa
BE BRAVE OLIVE!!!

PS Sorry for the multi-posts we finally got our computer up and running and can finally post all the videos we made for you.
Olive!!! I know you hear it all the time but you truly are a ROCKSTAR!!!! Good news to hear about your counts. You can meet any challenge in front of you. Keep up the good work Ollie girl. We LOVE you so much and think about you everyday. WE made this poster for you and wanted to send you LOVE LOVE LOVE. We recently got your thank you card and its sits on our mantle. Dear Olive the Brave,
I swim in the morning with your mommy and want you to know how proud I am of you. I am a doctor so I know things can be pretty yucky at times. You will be getting in the mail something from Goldi Blox that I hope will be fun for you when you might be feeling sad. Here is a picture of some friends I met in Africa last week that want to say hello to you!
Love,
Ralph and Claire Brindis
Hi Ollie! Meg wanted me to show you the cake she made on Friday! She’s learning how to decorate cakes in an afterschool class! She’s saving a big piece for you!
Here is a photo of a couple of FSKey characters on Friday:
Hi Olive,
It’s Audrey’s mom here. Audrey wants to share three more of her FUNNIEST jokes with you:
Q:How do you stop an elephant from charging?
A: Take away his credit cards.
Q: What was the elephant doing at the baggage claim?
A: Waiting for his trunk.
Q: How do you make an elephant float?
A: Two scoops of ice cream, lots of root beer, and one elephant.
At school on Friday some of the kids and teachers dressed up as their favorite characters from books. Most of the kinders were Things 1 & 2, and so were Mrs Maffei and Mrs Heffernan! Ms Tong in 1st grade dressed up as the mouse from “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie!” There were lots of Harry Potters, of course. We saw an Angel Rapper and a Dragon Rapper, (but wait, were they really from a book?) Audrey dressed up as Matilda from “Matilda”. What character would you like to dress up as, Olive?
Friday was also Bookstore Day, and the moms and dads at FS Key never forget to pick up a special book for you. We’ll drop it off this week. Go Diamonds! Go Olive!
Love,
Audrey’s mom, Caroline
Hi Olive,
Addie is a 2nd grader at school and she says that you played together at recess in the Fall. Today, Addie decided to cut her hair and donate it to Locks of Love in your honor. Stay Brave!

I hope to meet you someday and give you a high five for bravery.

Hi Diamond’s:
I just read the last report and am in awe of your stamina and love for this little angel. I’d be on the floor crying with Olive! It has to the hardest thing in the world to go through this day in and day out. Not to mention seeing your little girl in pain & I’m so sorry that you have to endure this torment.
You are , however not alone. I was just asked to make a hat with hair for a little boy, as he lost his hair too going through chemo.
Your posts are truly inspirational and so well written–and gut wrenching to the core. Maybe it’s a good way to vent and get it all out. Very smart.
God bless you Olive. It will get better sweetie.

Hi Olive:
You don’t know me, but I was very fortunate to have met Sheryl & Allen Bar many moons ago. Sheryl told me that she knows a very, very special & beautiful little girl named Olive who is having kind of a tough time right now feeling well. And so , she asked if I’d make you some pretty hats with hair, as I recently started to make some for women who are sick.
As you know, it’s just not fun being sick, and to have something fun to wear always helps! Anyway, you were my very first little girl that I made them for and I’m hoping you have fun with them –and I am so proud of you for all you have been through and that you are my first little model to wear my hats.
God bless you angel.
Hey Olive.
You are the bravest person we know.
Keep fighting on, little tiger.
Love ya bunches and bunches.

One more from Tahoe. Quinny and Olive had a great time.
I couldn’t have said it better myself.
Hi Ollie!
Sometimes life just calls for a little random dancing, don’t you think?
When I’m irritable, feeling frustrated or even just, in general, having a ‘blahhh’ moment…a little jig helps clear the cobwebs & gives me a quick boost of energy.
Have you ever tried it?
What if…the next time you’re at the hospital…you do a few boogie-down moves right in the hallway or even in the waiting room? I mean, why not?! Check out this video…I think these folks would agree.
It takes being Brave to just get up and dance!

The video made olive smile and the vision of your jig made me smile.
Thanks for keeping us dancing di!

Olive,
We shredded in Tahoe for you this weekend. The conditions were wicked stormy(as your mom would say). But we skied our way through to show everyone on the mountain that you are kicking cancers butt!!
Keep kicking ints butt ollie!
We love you so much Olive!!!!!
Ollie,
As you know, we went skiing in Tahoe this weekend. We skied in the morning but it was snowing so hard – a wet, to-the-bone-cold day. We were tired. Our muscles were sore. We really wanted to stay in the lodge after feeling it’s warmth during our lunch break.
But we didn’t.
Instead, we ordered one more, gave a loud, thunderous toast to The Diamonds and went out for another run.
You continue to inspire us everyday. Stay strong. Stay brave.
This is your Black Diamond and you’re doing just fine.
Love,
Luke
Quinn,
I wuv you, too.

Jack, Reese, Wyatt and Tanner did their best to follow in Olive’s boots. They rocked it in ski school. Get ready for next Winter, Ollie. You’re getting some company on the mountain. Keep kicking cancer’s butt so you can show the kids who’s still the boss!

Love you guys.

Ollie – I just read your mom’s latest post about being fearless, and it reminded me of the time we went bike riding in GG Park almost 2 years ago. We went to your favorite part – the one where you can bomb down the narrow cement path. You know the one – the one with the hill, big enough to make you lose your breath walking up. Tanner was double your size, but could only go down the hill from half way up. But you, you fearless daredevil, went down from the tippy top at least 20x, all without breaks. The first few times got your mom and I a bit nervous (as well as all the passing strangers who couldn’t believe someone so young and small was doing this). But after a few convincing “I’ve got this, mom” moments, we knew you could do anything you set your sights on.
Ollie…did Mommy & Daddy kick you out of bed?
Dear Brave Olive,
We bring a video message from Merida who wanted to record a personal message especially for you! Alicia also collected a few autographs for you and we will present them to you this Sunday when we bring you some food.
Hope you are feeling better!

Happy Saturday, Olive. When you graduate high school, they might ask you to list your favorite quote for the yearbook. Mine made me think of you. It’s from Jimmy Cliff, one of my favorite singers:
Rome was not built in a day.
Opposition will come your way.
But the harder the battle you see,
It’s the sweetest victory.
HI OLIVE,
JIM AND I SEND HUGS AND KISSES TO YOU, MOMMY, DADDY AND LITTLE SISTER QUINN.
WE ARE THINKING OF YOU, FROM ALL THE WAY HERE IN NEW YORK.

Dear Olive…I live all the way across the country in Philadelphia. I heard about you from Don Goldkamp, a friend of your dad’s.
Every night before we have our dinner, we pray for people who aren’t feeling well and I want you to know that we are praying for you to be better very soon!
I just realized that your grandparents live in Philadelphia, too. I saw a picture of you with them in Washington Square.
Maybe one day we will meet you when you come for a visit. I would like that!! Love, Carolyn
Hi olive,
Audrey loves listening to Ms Iliza’s cd of theatre arts songs. Do you? What song is your favorite? Audrey’s favorites are Naughty and When I Grow Up from the musical Matilda. (Track 7 and maybe 10?) Matilda is a very little girl who is gentle and smart and must be very brave and strong. She reminds us of you! Here is a
Video of Matilda singing on stage:

Do you remember singing this silly song in the car at Tahoe. Maybe Mommy and Daddy can help you record another verse with my name and post it up.

Hey Ollie.
There’s not a day that goes by where I don’t think about you and how wonderful and strong you’ve been. You’ve been such an inspiration for me, Wyatt, Lukie and Lisa. Go get ’em, girl.
Love always,

Hi Olive!
My very special lady bug is on my very special shelf! It made me feel so good, thank you for such a thoughtful gift! I’m so proud of all the learning you have been doing, I can’t wait to work with you next week! I’m sending you love from all the boys and girls in Room 105! <3Ms. Cuper
Hi Olive!
This is Griffin’s mom, Miss Jennifer. Remember me? I’m one of your art-in-action teachers. Anyway, as a hobby I like to crochet things out of yarn, and I would love to make you a hat or three using pretty, soft, natural fibers.
Can you tell me what your favorite colors are? Maybe purple? (Just a guess!) Are there any colors you would never wear?
Would you like a butterfly beanie, monster hat, sun hat, baseball cap, or even a crown? Some of my ideas are here: http://www.pinterest.com/jennteu/olive-the-brave/. If you have other ideas for a hat you’d love, let me know! I’m not an expert crocheter, but I can try.
Griffin and his big sister Zoe say hi, too.

Hi Sweet Olive,
We want EVERYONE to hear you ROAR! Maybe even Katy Perry will hear you.

Hi Ollie!
Do you know what a gemstone is? It’s a shiny, pretty stone used to make jewelry. Gemstones come in many colors, many shapes, many sizes. Gemstones can be used in rings, on necklaces, as bracelets…or even as earrings! Some of my favorite gemstones are sapphires, emeralds and…DIAMONDS. Did you know that, of all the gemstones out there, diamonds are the strongest? You can never break them. Most other gemstones can be squished, scratched, scraped, chipped, crushed, cracked…but not diamonds! Nothing can hurt a DIAMOND.
xoxo
Hi Olive,
I’ve heard you love the song roar! We love that song too.
I always think about you specially on Wednesday when I go to help Mrs Cuper class. I am so glad she is coming to your house I bet you are learning all the numbers and letters 🙂
I hope you are enjoying your karaoke machine. I miss you and I miss your mom too.
Much Love
Isabella and Daniela
Meg and Family,
Your positivity and determination are truly inspiring. What a strong and brave little girl you’ve got there; no surprise given how strong and amazing her mom and dad seem too! I’ve already been SO inspired by Janaelle (my sister-in-law) and the journey she braved through that it’s only fitting to now feel just as inspired by one of her best friends. You girls are amazing!! Thank you for sharing your journey.
Sending lots of positive thoughts to you and that precious little girl of yours!!
Beth Humberd
Olive,
I’m not sure what fuddy-duddy crazy stuff Wyatt is filling your head with. I am your boyfriend, and I have a love note to prove it. It’s proudly displayed on my wall. It’s my first love note, and you’re my first love (despite you not letting me kiss you last week). But I get it. I’ll wait.
I love Katie Perry. I love veggie burgers. And I have a Phineas and Ferb karaoke player. If you ever need a good song during chemo, I highly recommend “Eye of the Tiger” or “The Dreidel Song,” both of which I have. Mi casa es su casa, my sweets.
XOXOXO,
Tanner
Dear beautiful Olive! I am so proud of you! You are amazing , brave and inspiring princess! You mom is so proud of you! You are so loved by everybody !!! Get well soon! Love, Bella and my puppy Charlie
Hi Ollie!

Much love, Beth
Oh! Ollie! I wish I was out there for Daddy’s breakfast of French toast!!!! Did you leave any for me??? I’ll be out in a jiffy, but first, I need your Zip Code! You’re such a Zippy kiddo that we want to send you something! Ill give you ONE hint! Next month is February and on the 2nd is Groundhog Day! Mom and Dad can tell you about that silly Groundhog, but I am NOT going to send you one!!!!
Xoxoxoxo
Dear Diamonds,
Thank you so very much for the updates. I want to compliment Adam….Adam you are an incredible writer! You write so extraordinarily well and have a distinct “voice” to your entries. Kudos to you all for allowing us to be part of the journey towards Ollie’s recovery. You all remain in my prayers.
Ollie and Quinn, I hope you loved reading “The Day The Crayolas Quit.” It is such a funny story!! Love you all.

Hi Olive,
I remember when I didn’t have a chance to go see you in the hospital. I’m sorry that I didn’t go. So I have a surprise for you.
My mommy told me you might lose your hair. And I still want you as my Valentine. I’m prepared to knock Tanner out of the way. Shhhh, don’t tell Reese. My mom and Auntie Kara have been trying to marry us for a long long time.
I know Luke is going to marry Quinn.
Ok, that’s it.
But there’s more!
I have so much jokes for you. Will you call me sometime so I can tell them to you? Shhh, don’t tell Tanner.
Love,
Wyatt

Hey Olive! I can’t wait to come up and visit you. I am looking forward to hanging out playing all of our favorite games. Maybe we can even go to the park and play on the monkey bars. Give your little sister and your mom and dad a hug for me.

Hi olive,
Your friend Audrey from FSK and theatre arts misses singing with you. She likes good jokes and wants to share one with you:
What is the worst thing about being an octopus?
A: it takes sooooo long to wash your hands before dinner!
Stay strong, olive and family. We will support you any way we can.
Hi Olive,
We miss you and wish we could be there to see you, hug you and kiss you. Remember when you visited us last summer in Philadelphia? Here we are sitting in Washington Square Park. I can’t wait until we can do that again.
We love you little ladybug,
Gigi & Gramps
Hi Olive!!
I work with your Auntie Lex and met you last week on Skype! I’m following your journey and hearing updates all the time from your Aunt. She’s so proud of you and so are we – meaning everyone in our office!
You’re just the coolest, bravest, toughest kid any of us has ever known. We are all rooting for you and thinking of you often. I think we all can (and are) learning a lot from your courageousness. That is so special – as are you.
Sending lots of love your way from Los Angeles! And I hope we get to meet in person down the line!
Love,
Lynsey
Cousin Brady, and his dog Boston are both taking a nap. We went to the playground and played with a girl his age named Samara by running after each other, racing toy cars down the slide, climbing and riding on a tractor.
We think about you often. When I watch Brady next week I will have him draw you and Quinn a picture. He likes to make circles and lines and use all the crayon colors! My Mom says hello and loves your beautiful smile.
Happy Australia Day, Ollie!
Today, 26th January is a very special day for us Aussies. It’s a lot like July 4th for you. We were with you in San Francisco last July 4th, remember? Australia Day is a national holiday and people like to fly the Aussie flag, sing funny songs, & drink beer.
The 26th January 1788 is the day that Captain Arthur Phillip sailed into Sydney harbour to declare Australia a new colony of Great Britain.
Maybe mum can show you on a map of the world where Australia is, and how long of a boat journey it would have been from England.
When Captain Arthur Phillip landed in Australia he was really excited because it meant that he could unload all the convicts he had brought with him from England. He brought 7 boat loads of prisoners! The convicts weren’t necessarily bad people, some had only stolen a loaf of bread for their family to eat. But because England is only a small island (compared to Australia, it’s tiny, isn’t it?) and because back then even small crimes like stealing bread meant you got sent to jail, the jails in England were packed full and they needed more space to house all the prisoners!
Around this time, America declared their independence from England, after a big war, I wonder if you have learned about that in school? Maybe you can tell me about it sometime Ollie, coz TBones ain’t so hot with his American history.
The 7 boat loads of prisoners were really hard workers, so they got to work building a new colony for England. They built roads and bridges and houses and even their own jail! They were rewarded for their hard work by being given farms in the countryside to grow crops and raise sheep. ( There are a LOT of sheep in Australia). When you come visit us, maybe we can go to my Uncle Mike’s farm where there are sheep and cows and lots and lots of kangaroos!
Here’s a picture of Koa waving his Aussie flag.
Happy Australia Day!
Oi oi oi
My Sweet Olive,
I’m in an airplane high above the clouds on my way back to Philadelphia and thinking about the bravest, smartest, most beautiful (inside and out) five year old I know…YOU!! We had so much fun – being chefs in the kitchen together, homework time (you finished it all and wanted more!!), writing stories, and especially listening and watching you sing along with Katy Perry. I think that was your favorite, too! I’ll see you on FaceTime and I’ll hug you in March.
Lots of love,
Grandmom

Dearest Olive,
HELLO from the Ninja Turtles, Ms. Nhi & Ms. Lisa! You have been in our thoughts! Not one day goes by that a student doesn’t ask me “Where’s Olive?” We made a flip-book with well wishes.. but I’m putting on the finishing touches. I hope you get to read each and every one of them and feel all the love that each one of us sends you! I have to say that you hold a special place in my heart ever since the first day of After School Program. From the times i’d pick you up from class (you being in tears after a long morning) to you never giving up your spot as my line buddy. EVERYONE wanted to be my line buddy, but noooo. Anywho, through all the 9 years of kids who have come and gone to upper grades, there will always be those who leave you smiles and great moments to look back on. I wish you well Olive, many wishes, many hugs, and many non-germy kisses, not just from me, but the class and ms. Nhi. You will definitely be missed but never forgotten. Remember Olive…TOUGH MOMENTS DON’T LAST, TOUGH DIAMONDS DO 🙂
Best to you Olive and the entire DIAMOND family
Hope you hear from you soon!
Always,
Ms. Lisa <3

Hello Olive –
I found this picture of you climbing a tree last year. You are way braver than me.
Hi Olive! Isabella misses you. We pray for you every night before bed. We went to the beach yesterday and Isabella stopped to pick up some flowers and there were many ladybugs on it we thought about you. Isabella and I we made a plan that every time we see a ladybug we will think about you and say “Olive be strong”… We ‘ve seen a lot lately 🙂
Much Love!
