The Induction Day – Entry #5

Today was Olive’s first day of Chemotherapy. She was off to the operating room at 7 am for a dose of intrathecal chemo (chemo injected into the spinal column .  They need to treat her with both intrathecal and intravenous route because the highest percentage of relapse is found in the spinal column.

Our Dr. Visits and lets Ollie know is she does well this am then it is okay for her to move on up to the floor with the playroom!!

Olive smiles;))))) girl is on a mission now. She welcomes that chemo in as her friend for this time in her life. Lets it know they will play nice, have one hell of ride together  and an even cooler story in the end!

We make it up stairs. Olive immediately finds her favorite big wheel. Names it the rock and roller and she is off!! Buring rubber like its a race track. ( maybe tomorrow we’ll teach her how to pop a wheelie). By earlier afternoon after her intravenous dose of chemo she has pure fatigue resisting our many suggestions of rest. Sleep finally comes while standing. Like we had said earlier lot of spunk, determination. Thankfully rest happens.

Grandmom, Quinny, and Pop Pop come for a visit. Olive is still in bed resting. Her little sis can tell something is wrong and she quickly gathers over 10 items in the room and one at a time tucks them into bed with Ollie. Sisters have each others back!

Olive is tired tonight so we end the visit early and enjoy the classic version of the parent trap. She rests and smiles.

Tomorrow will be a good day!

Much love to you all. We really can feel all that love and support wrapped around us.
