“Today is a fancy day” – Entry #8

Wednesday, day number 2 of being home. Olive awoke with a ferocious appetite (one of the side effects of her meds). After fueling herself up she declared” today is fancy day”.  Olive is back!! She continues to dress herself up picking all the right accessories.  Helps her sister dress just as fancy, purses and all.  The girls have a special outing to the zoo( yes, day trip doctor approved!) with grandmom and pop pop.  Momma had a little break:) Just a bit needed.

When they arrived home I was told that Olive and Quin had separated their hands only to go down the slide a couple of times. These sisters have both realized something happened this week.  Quinn is just wanting to be near her sister and luckily she will be for a long long time to come.  During nap time Olive and I were able to sneak away to her arts and theater class (also doctor approved).  Olive was a bit hesitant but once we talked about the songs that she has been learning she realized she did not want to miss yet another class.  Options for Olive’s outing will be very limited and time specific.  We must embrace the days that her energy level, and white blood cell count is up. She continues to persevere.

Adam and I, grandmom and pop pop take on yet another night of 4 against 2.  Separate tubbies, which is a huge disruption to the girls, wrapping Olive’s Intravenous access so it does not get wet (chemo port access to come later in the month), half an hour or more to coax Olive to take her medication which she is resisting more with each passing day( can you blame her?)  and Sterilizing everything because we have a turned in to anti bug freaks at this point.

This has been double over head size wave of emotions this week.  Spinning and trying to find a rhythm and constant changing and ever so fragile time.  We have made it through because of YOU!!  Each text, post, card and delicious meal you have provided for our family has gotten us to this point.  When one step felt like it did not what to take another, one of Ollie’s angels would come through with another token of love.

We are so fortunate and grateful for each one of you.  Our lives are FULL within this trying and down right petrifying time. Today was and everyday should be fancy….with a splash of pink.

So much love
Meg
