Home Sweet Home – Entry #6

It's our last day at the hospital. Ollie is slated to be discharged tonight around 9:00. The nurses and Doctors here can not believe what a cool and calm little girl she has been. She has another dose of Chemo today around 3:00 which takes a couple of hours then we will get ready to head home.

The Induction Day – Entry #5

Today was Olive's first day of Chemotherapy. She was off to the operating room at 7 am for a dose of intrathecal chemo (chemo injected into the spinal column . They need to treat her with both intrathecal and intravenous route because the highest percentage of relapse is found in the spinal column.

Our Dr. Visits and lets Ollie know is she does well this am then it is okay for her to move on up to the floor with the playroom!!

The waiting place. – Entry #4

Olive had another great night sleep once she finally allowed herself to chill. She had been on IV steroids for 12 hrs and at about 9pm the night before I was describing her as a five year old in Vegas at a really "hot" table. She was driving her daddy into the second straight hour of war and the hooting and Hollering could have made any of us roar with laughter. Olive is sick but man her passion for life is just shinning right through!

The cancer roller coaster begins! – Entry #3

We awake after olive having a wonderful night sleep and great appetite. We get the day up and running with music, books and a special visit from grandmom.

After lunch the doctor shows up with a look no parent wants to see. In the conference room we were told that it is not definitive lymphoma. There is a chance now it could be a Thymoma, which could possibly mean surgical removal of the very large tumor followed by more aggressive chemo therapy.

So we are treading lightly here. We have met with a team of Doctors, all with the biggest hearts, compassion, and determination. Each one of them has made Olive giggle or smile which has brought joy within this twisted form of fate.

Day 1 of our 2014 – Entry #1

Oh life has funny ways of twisting and turning down paths, you cannot see the reason until you are onto the next. There are many paths in our lives that are now glowing from past decisions we have made, places we have landed, jobs we have chosen, friends we have surrounded ourselves with and love that we have built. It is in these moments that we are so grateful because it is there where we have found our strength and community that we have today to take on this colossal challenge. Our family and friends are our backbone that have provided us with unbreakable structure. Olive Diamond is unbreakable!
